NIAAA T32 Training Grant

The NIAAA training grant provides support for both predoctoral and postdoctoral fellows interested in gaining knowledge and experience in conducting independent basic and/or clinical alcohol research. The program places emphasis on the development of research skills, including critical thinking, grant writing and subsequent communication of research results at national meetings, and in professional journals. Trainees are provided with mentorship and direct training, as well as didactic lessons that stress both clinical and basic science aspects of alcohol abuse.

The program is unique in that it stresses the sharing of information of basic and clinical research findings within an integrated research and treatment environment. This is possible because the majority of clinical and basic science faculty and fellows are housed in close proximity to one another, thus facilitating daily interactions between scientists at various career stages.

Eligibility:

• NIH T32 support for predoctoral fellows is limited to US citizens or permanent residents. There is a five-year limit of NIH predoctoral training support from T32 funds or those provided by an individual F31 fellowship.
• NIH T32 support for postdoctoral fellows is limited to US citizens or permanent residents. There is a three-year limit of NIH postdoctoral training support from T32 funds or those provided by an individual F32 fellowship.
